    Overview

    Portfolios group projects so that you can read their combined health in one place. You create portfolios and link projects on the Planning page. The Portfolios page is the read-only rollup: it scores each portfolio from its projects and lets you open one to see every project with its risk, capacity, milestone and budget figures.

    Important to know

    Limits, permissions, and sharp edges to keep in mind.

    • A project can be linked to several portfolios at once. Linking the same project to the same portfolio again changes nothing, and unlinking removes only that one link.
    • Portfolio health is calculated, so you cannot set it. A project scores up to 100 from the share of its open tasks that are overdue or blocked, how many tasks it finished recently and how recently it changed. The portfolio score is the average of its projects: 70 and above is green, 40 to 69 is yellow, and below 40 is red. A portfolio that links no projects has no score and is marked as having no projects yet.

    How to use it

    The primary workflow, start to finish.

    1. 1Open Planning in the sidebar and find the Portfolios card.
    2. 2Select the plus button on the Portfolios card, enter a name and an optional description, then save. You become the portfolio owner.
    3. 3Choose a project in the portfolio's project selector and link it. Open Portfolios in the sidebar to read the health rollup.

    FAQ

    Can a project belong to multiple portfolios?
    Yes. Linking a project to a second portfolio does not remove it from the first, and each portfolio counts it in its own average.
    Can I set a portfolio's health directly?
    No. Portfolio health is calculated from the projects linked to it, so it changes when the work in those projects changes rather than by overriding the number.
    How do I move a project out of a portfolio?
    Open the Planning page, choose the project in the portfolio's project selector and unlink it. The project and its tasks are not changed, and links to other portfolios stay.
