Diagram Studio

Diagram Studio is where diagrams are made and kept. Flowcharts, architecture diagrams, entity relationship models and mind maps, either drawn by hand on the canvas or generated from a description in text and then edited like anything else. The gallery holds what you have made, and a separate shelf holds what colleagues and your organisation have shared with you, so somebody else's diagram is never mixed in with your own. Diagrams can be exported, and the studio understands the common interchange formats so a diagram made elsewhere is not stranded there.

• The canvas is a browser surface and loads when you open a diagram rather than when you open the gallery, which is why the gallery appears first and the canvas a moment later.

2. 2Create one: start on a blank canvas, or describe what you want and generate a first draft to edit.
3. 3Edit on the canvas. Changes are saved as you work.
4. 4Share it with colleagues when it is worth reading, and look under Shared with me for theirs.
5. 5Export when a diagram needs to leave Atlas, or import one that was made elsewhere.

Can I generate a diagram from text?

Yes. Describe what you want and the studio produces a first draft. It is an ordinary diagram from that point and is meant to be edited rather than accepted.

Where are diagrams other people made?

Under Shared with me, deliberately separate from your own gallery, so somebody else's work is never mixed into yours.

Why can I not edit a shared diagram?

Because of how it was shared with you. Sharing carries a level of access, and read-only is a legitimate choice by whoever shared it.

Can I take a diagram out of Atlas?

Yes. Export it, and import one made elsewhere in a common interchange format. A diagram trapped in one tool is a diagram nobody maintains.
