    A single source of truth (SSOT) is one authoritative place where a given piece of information lives, so everyone references the same up-to-date data instead of conflicting copies.

    A single source of truth eliminates the "which version is right?" problem. When each fact (a customer's status, a project's deadline, an employee's role) has one authoritative home, everything else points to it rather than duplicating it.

    Without an SSOT, data drifts: a number in a spreadsheet disagrees with the CRM, which disagrees with a slide. An SSOT keeps decisions grounded in consistent, current information.
